...MARY's COMiC is a project of Ralf Jesek, vocalist and songwriter of the former DarkWaveFolkPop project IN MY ROSARY, which was a well-known act within the international DarkWave- / Alternative scene since the late 1990ies and which musical idea is continued since November 2011 by Ralf and his former IN MY ROSARY live guest musicians under the name
I-M-R.
Between 1993 and 2002 he also was singer and musical mastermind of the WavePop band
DERRIÈRE LE MIROIR, which released five CDs. Furthermore he formed together with Martin v. Arndt (PRINTED AT BISMARCK'S DEATH) two-thirds of the one time project GRIFFIN'S FALL. Besides this he also cooperated with artists such as the Russian darkwave band Stillife or the British musician Paul Roland, for whom he also designs the CD artwork since 2008...
...Strictly speaking MARY's COMiC was already around back in 1987. After his school-band T-HE split up, Ralf recorded a 4 track demo tape and gave this project the name of one of the songs. But due to other musical activities MARY's COMiC was soon forgotten. In 2000 the name revived for two songs on "The Blisz Compilation" and was further used by Ralf as he did a remix for the SYRIA MCD "Meanwhile" in 2003. But during the IN MY ROSARY-Tour in 2004, while sitting in a green room in Copenhagen and thinking about realizing some ideas within a new project, MARY's COMiC was finally resuscitated...
...The basic idea of "Perfect Vacation" was to bring some texts or text-fragments, which had developed in different cities, into an individual musical form. Placed somewhere between NewWave and DarkPop and linked to the good old idea of independent music. Therefore planned as a purely virtual project first, it finally became a real one, too. Besides 12 "regular" songs, the album also contain 3 archive tracks. And the Viennese photo artist
Marko Zink could be won to provide his series "untitled : 2001" for the graphic transposition...
